Biography of the Brothers
*Arthur Cook, is the eldest of the nine brothers. The offspring of Arthur has produced the only black Supreme Court Justice
for the state of Alabama, Justice Ralph D. Cook, Brenda Cook. Houston, is the first black Court Administrator for the
U.S. Immigration Court. Nekeshia Cook is a graduate of Harvard Medical School.
*Reverend William Penn Cook, D. Div., received a Doctors of Divinity from Princeton University, and Ivy League school, on May 24, 1916. Dr.
Cook was also one of the principle organizers of what has come to be known as the New Antioch Bethlehem Baptist Association
in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The offspring of Dr. Cook produced a great-grandson, Roger, a graduate of the Harvard University
Trade Union Program in March, 1996.
*Reverend Madison Cook, was a Methodist minister. Reverend Madison's home, built in 1897, still
stands in its original location on Cook Hill. A member of the Cook family continues to occupy the home.
*Albert Cook, a trustee of Cook Chapel AME Zion Church also built a home on Cook
Hill. There are two daughters of Albert still living, Sarah Stevenson and Velma Drawhorn.
*G. Sherman Cook, was the youngest of the nine brothers and was also the first black postman in
the Greene County area. His position with the postal service required that he have a gun permit, G. Sherman was the
first black person in the area to have one. After the death of G. Sherman, his position of postmaster was passed on
to Booker Cook, Sr. who is the oldest living direct Cook descendent.
*George Cook, Very little is known of George Cook. According to family members, he operated
a store on the Cook property and farmed the land as many of the other nine brothers did.
*Napoleon Cook, Little is known of Napoleon Cook. He left Greene County early
on and settled in Jefferson County. In 1907 when the acreage of Charles Cook, Sr.'s estate was surveyed and divided
among his nine sons, Napoleon and his wife were present to sign the deed.
*Reverend Charles A. Cook, Jr., namesake of Charles Sr., was a Methodist minister who resided in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
*Monroe Cook, is said to have been the wealthiest of the nine brothers. He was an entrepreneur who owned several more acres
than his brothers and also ran a grits and syrup mill.

has nine limbs so to speak, each limb representing one of the nine brother's or son's of Charles A. Cook Sr., (The
Trunk) it is through each of these limbs that we are able to trace our own family history, heritage
and relation to Charles A. Cook Sr.

The Branches: We have a few living family members who
are direct descendents of the brothers who would as would the rest of us fall into this branch category of family
members.
This is were you and I "The Branches" come in and how each of us can help develop the branches
of our family tree. Any information that you can provide about the brother from which you are descended i.e. his wife and
children's names, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, dates that pertain, noteworthy achievements of a family member
and so on, would be greatly appreciated.
